How PeekABook Started

Life doesn’t stop when you become a parent.
Work, emails, responsibilities, stress… everything is still there.

After my baby was born, I had the privilege to work from home, and most of my work was done from my phone.
One day, when he was around three months old, I noticed him looking at me while I was holding it.

And I felt guilty.

It kept happening.
Every time I picked up my phone, his eyes followed it.
The feeling didn’t go away.

I started trying to hide the screen.
I covered my phone with books, blankets, pillows… whatever I could find.
Nothing felt natural. Nothing was comfortable. Nothing really worked.

So I decided to design something myself.

I have a small background in design, so I challenged myself to create a simple solution that would feel natural in everyday life.
At first, it was only for me.

I made more than five test versions, changing small details every time.
I watched how my baby reacted when I held the phone… and how he reacted when I held the book.

It felt like a small experiment at home.

And I was surprised how such a small change made such a big difference.

He wasn’t focused on the screen anymore.
He wasn’t trying to reach for the phone.
He just saw his parent holding a book.

And something else happened.

It helped me too.

When I finished working, I would close the book with the phone inside, put it on the table…
and forget about it.

Out of sight, out of mind.

That simple idea became PeekABook.

Created by a parent, for parents, to make everyday life a little more intentional , without pretending that phones don’t exist.

Why we created Peek A Book

We noticed something very simple.

Children copy what they see.

If they see books, they want books.
If they see phones, they want phones.

Health organizations around the world recommend limiting screen time for babies and toddlers, but modern life makes this difficult.

Parents still need their phones.

We wanted a practical solution, not an unrealistic rule.

That is how PeekABook was born.

What is Peek A Book?

Peek A Book is a specially designed book with a hidden phone holder inside.

It allows parents to use their phone discreetly while their child sees a book instead of a screen.

This helps reduce early screen curiosity and supports healthier habits without making parenting harder.

Peek A Book is not about perfection.
It is about making better choices every day.

Why reducing screen exposure matters

Many studies and pediatric recommendations suggest limiting screen exposure in early childhood because excessive screen time may affect:

Attention development
Sleep quality
Language skills
Social interaction
Emotional regulation

Children learn by watching adults.

If screens become normal too early, they quickly become necessary.

Peek A Book helps parents create a different example.

Designed for real life parents

We did not create Peek A Book for perfect parents.

We created it for real parents.

Parents who are tired.
Parents who work.
Parents who need a moment.
Parents who want to do their best without feeling guilty.

Peek A Book helps you stay present, while still living in the real world.

Not anti-technology. Just smarter habits.

Phones are not the enemy.

Technology is part of modern life.

But children do not need to see screens all the time.

Peek A Book helps you use your phone more responsibly around your child, without stress and without complicated rules.

Simple. Practical. Real.

Our mission

Our mission is to help families reduce early screen exposure in a realistic way.

Not by banning phones.
Not by judging parents.
But by creating tools that make healthier habits easier.

Peek A Book is one small change that can make a big difference.

Built by parents, for parents

Peek A Book was created by parents who saw the same problem every day:

Phones everywhere.
Children watching everything.
And very few practical solutions.

So we built one.

Safety note

Peek A Book is designed for adult use and should always be used while children are supervised.

It is not a toy and should not be given to children to play with.

Safety always comes first.
